An enlisted member enters the U.M.C as a
Recruit. After completing basic training, the enlisted recruits advances to
Cadet. The next notable advancement is to a Ensign.
The highest rank attainable in the U.M.C is the five-bar Fleet Admiral.
In 1944, Congress created the rank Fleet Admiral
to be granted to four people. There has been no authorization to use the
rank since the World War II era.
