Duties and functions

This included pre-scheduled preventative maintenance, system upgrades and repairs to correct malfunctioning or damaged systems. The SCE was easily the most demanding officer posting aboard a starship or space station next to the commanding officer, because the chief engineering officer's responsibility was virtually every part of the ship or station, with the exception of the crew.
Ranks

The SCE was a department head position requiring a rank of Lieutenant or above. On large vessels, the chief engineering officer was usually a Lieutenant commander. If the chief engineer held the rank of captain, then that officer would be known as the captain of engineering.

Appearance: Short but not stocky, Red freckles and red hair with two long braids on each side of her head, Bright blue eyes. She has voluptuous features and usually wears the sleaves to her uniform rolled up, in a rugged engineering belt with various tools strapped to her belt.

Personality: Intelligent, analytical, and fiercely loyal. Barba is a master of technology and magic, combining both to create advanced systems for the U.M.C Audacious. She is also kind-hearted and often serves as a person of humor and wisdom among the crew.

Background

Barba comes from a long line of Dwarf engineers and has inherited their talent for crafting and building. She has worked on various starships before joining the U.M.C Audacious and is known for her expertise in repairing and upgrading advanced technology. and has been instrumental in developing the Trip drive and other advanced technologies. She has a deep hatred for the Xu Dra due to their attack on her home world.
